WHO HOLDS THE PEN?

THE BOOK

Cracked Open asks a harder question than what happened to David: Who gets to decide who you become after everything life has asked you to carry?

THE BOOK

Cracked Open

Cracked Open is David Leon Golden’s personal exploration of identity, struggle, transformation, and freedom. Through his own experiences, David examines how pain can become preparation, how forgiveness can create freedom, and how gratitude can change the way we see our lives.

The book ultimately asks readers to look beyond the identities they have inherited or accepted and consider who they are capable of becoming.

The Roads That Led Me Here

Not a straight climb, but a life shaped by family, ambition, faith, failure, addiction, and the search for who remained underneath it all.

For five years, David worked at The Potter’s House, where he encountered athletes, actors, politicians, and other highly successful people while continuing to wrestle with his own direction.

AFTER 2003

The Stage, the Jungle & the Story

David left to pursue acting and stand-up comedy, while crack continued moving in and out of his life. Years later, the experiences he once called failures became the material he would examine in Cracked Open.
